Ramping Up for National Disability Employment Awareness Month

The U.S. Department of Labor has announced the 2014 theme for National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM, October),”Expect. Employ. Empower.”  Additional information is online, including promotional items, many of which are free. Complementing this theme, Ohio Public Images (OPI) offers the 2014 DD Awareness-themed Ability@Work materials suitable for NDEAM celebration and recognition events.  Visit the OPI online store front for information.

Working Together: Statewide Employment Conference, September 15-16

Just ahead of NDEAM is a statewide employment conference at Great Wolf Lodge in Mason, Ohio. Working Together is organized by the Hamilton, Butler, Clermont, and Warren County Boards of Developmental Disabilities, and the University of Cincinnati/ University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities.  The conference will bring together people with disabilities and their families, as well as providers and County Board staff to learn from national and state leaders about expanding employment options for people with disabilities. Several prominent national experts and Ohio leaders for community and integrated employment for people with disabilities will be featured speakers.  Go to the event website to register and learn about the presentations.
