The July 15 meeting of the DODD Strategic Planning Leadership Group (SPLG) provided opportunities for participants — including individuals served by Ohio’s developmental disabilities service providers and representatives from several stakeholder groups — to share observations on changing systems, as well as focusing on opportunities to collaborate with other state agencies and service providers in outcome-based planning.

Since its first meeting in November 2013 when trends and forces in state and national DD services systems were studied, SPLG members have explored a broad range of best practices, new ideas, upcoming legislation, and areas of concern and improvement. Small group discussions, as well as large group forums, have brought several key issues into clearer focus.

The series of informational gatherings continues to engage DODD stakeholders in conversations for the long-term benefit of Ohio’s developmental disabilities community. The group’s final meeting this November will fine-tune recommendations and benchmarks for the biennium. DODD appreciates the ongoing involvement of all SPLG members, and the donation of work and time involved in this process.
